Facts, Questions, and Everything in Between
Am I beautiful just the way I am?
The answer to that question is, absolutely YES! You are handcrafted and created by a wonderful and loving God that saw you, knew you, hand picked you, counted the hairs on your head, and designed you to be born for such a time as this. You are you, and that is what makes you wonderful!
After your session, please smile! It will make you a better person, and make the ones around you smile more too! Smiling is my very favorite, so let us make smiling great again; and do it sooner rather than later!
The million dollar question is; Does teeth whitening make my teeth sensitive? The answer to that question is; NO! Your teeth are your teeth; genetics, diet, health, habits, and all the things, make your teeth exactly what they are. One process will not change that indefinitely. I have served many people that have had very destroyed teeth, and have experienced no sensitivity! I have had many clients that have had stunning teeth, and have experienced mild reactions and sensitivity. At the very end of the day it is most important that your health from a holistic standpoint is your first priority. So my advice is to hydrate, your health will always thank you for that!
1. Does teeth whitening cause sensitivity?
Eh, maybe. But a llootttt of other factors can cause that too! If you have a holistic professional in your life, I highly recommend consulting with them, they are smart and understand the body (as a whole) much better than I do! But, I do think they are onto something… so ponder that while I continue.
It can cause temporary sensitivity if you are not well hydrated before and after the process. (It does dehydrate the nerves.) But answering that as a yes or no question seems futile. I, for one, will never perform a treatment on anyone if I did not think it was in their best interest!
The products I choose to use are what I believe to be the best and most wholesome in the market. If I find something better that I think will be in your best interest I will ALWAYS use it. I care about you.
If you are a client prone to sensitivity, I have a product I can send you home with to help remineralize your teeth in order to help you recover from the treatment I provide. Please let me know if this is the case for you, and I would be happy to provide that.
2. Will my results last forever?
The answer to that is, possible. While unlikely, I wish they did. I would say the maintenance schedule is six to twelve months depending on the lifestyle you live. Anything that can or will stain a shirt of any kind has the chance of also staining your teeth.
3. Are you pregnant, can be pregnant, or thinking about getting pregnant?
Like I mentioned before, I try to use the best that this industry has to offer. And YES I use this on my children, so to the best of my knowledge, I do believe that it is safe for you to use while being pregnant, breastfeeding, or treating your children as well. If you have any questions about this, please address those with me! I would love to partner with you to be the healthiest version of yourself.
4. Professional or at home whitening, what is the difference?
The strips you can purchase for at home use will absolutely remove or temporarily remove the stains on the surface; so depending on your goals, it may be the perfect solution. A professional teeth whitening service will remove stains much deeper than what is visible on the surface and can prolong the results. It opens the pores in the teeth to remove stains much deeper than what the eyes can see, to the layers down to the dentin layer.
Fact Number One: Teeth are very similar to sponges in the way they absorb anything. Take good care of what you allow your teeth to be exposed to and take caution to only expose them to something that would stain a white shirt; because it will and can, stain your teeth as well. We all have pores in our teeth, much like our skin or a sponge that will take all the color in and change the color of our teeth. Take care of them!
Fact Number Two: Teeth whitening will not damage your teeth. But, also consider that aggressive brushing or anything that is over and above the normal regime, can be harmful. When it is as used as a tool, professional teeth whitening can be very safe and effective to add into your normal maintenance.
Fact Number Three: Sensitivity after whitening can be very normal, but it should not stay that way unless you are predisposed or have conditions that would make you vulnerable to sensitivity.
Fact Number Four: Whether you want whiter teeth, are thinking about having whiter teeth, or are simply just curious about having whiter teeth; you are stunning and beautiful just the way God made you. So first, believe that!
We have your back, and I want you to have an incredible smile, but also have allll the facts. So let me tell you about all the things that I know. I do not know everything, and will never claim to know everything.. But I can only tell you the knowledge that I do have. So, here we go..
Before your session, it is best to drink lots of water. (And also remember to go to the bathroom before your session, because it will be necessary! 🙂) It is best to continue to drink water after as well. The process does cause a temporary dehydration of the teeth which does make them “feel” sensitive. Much like anything else, feelings are fleeting and so is the teeth hydration. The quicker you rehydrate the better the outcome! Plus, water is just great for you! I will provide water on site to encourage your hydration!
After your session, smile!
